Shake It Up
This weekend we took an art project and somehow (not by my design) turned it into a size awareness lesson.
It started simply enough…an empty Olly multivitamin tub (seriously, I find new uses for these things all the time), card stock, a few paint colors and dried pumpkin seeds. We snipped the card stock so that it fit inside the tub, dropped a few paint drops in it, added the seeds and after securing the top shook it all up.
The splatter paint art piece we got from it was pretty great. And Dylan loved the full art immersion. Then she had the bright idea to see what else we had in the pantry that we could use.
We tried lentils, which didn’t work as well, they clumped together so the splatter was more a smear. Then she grabbed the pistachios, which were probably the best out of all of them and we ended with pecans.
Dylan told me how each nut/seed/bean made a different sound when she shook them. She also saw how the mixture of colors made different colors. She directed all of this “learning” and I just sat back and nodded in awe.
