Solar system in a bottle
I’ve really been enjoying feeding into Dylan’s new space passion. We’ve read countless books including “A Place for Pluto” and “There Was an Old Astronaut That Swallowed the Moon” and “Moon’s First Friends.”
Moon’s First Friends was really cool because it had an interactive option to actually watch the first moon landing. Yes, we took full advantage of the anniversary of the moon landing this summer.
It made us want to do some of our own star gazing. One perfect way to do that was by creating the solar system in the bottle.
I downed some Voss water for our bottle and then we added the following:
1 1/2 cups warm water
Gold glitter, fine and super fine (optional)
Clear hand soap (optional)
Super glue
We started by adding the full bottle of black glitter glue to the water and then stirred. Next we added as much gold glitter and stars as we liked topped it all off with a little soap and more water.
Then we closed the top and shook it up. Dylan loved holding the solar system in her hands, and now she has it at her finger tips whenever she wants.
